Human genome
The human genome consists of 23 chromosome and the small mitochondrial DNA. 22 of the 23 chromosomes are autosomal chromosome pairs and the last one being a gender-determining pair. In total, the human genome contains the sequences of the 3 billion chemical base pairs that make up human DNA and approximately 20,000-25,000 genes. By understanding human genome, scientists are able to develop new medical applications that can significantly advance the state of health care.

Human genome
antitest
Orvosi; Human genome
1) A type of protein made by certain white blood cells in response to a foreign substance (antigen). Each antibody can bind to only a specific antigen. The purpose of this binding is to help destroy ...
aminoglycosid
Orvosi; Human genome
1) Any of a group of antibiotics derived from various species of Streptomyces or produced synthetically; they inhibit protein synthesis by binding with the 30S ribosomal subunit. 2) A broad spectrum ...
ammónia
Orvosi; Human genome
amyloid
Orvosi; Human genome
1) A nonnitrogenous starchy food. 2) A waxy translucent substance consisting of protein in combination with polysaccharides that is deposited in some animal organs and tissue under abnormal ...
amyloidosis
Orvosi; Human genome
1) A group of sporadic, familial and/or inherited, degenerative, and infectious disease processes, linked by the common theme of abnormal protein folding and deposition. As the amyloid deposits ...
anafázis
Orvosi; Human genome
1) The phase of cell nucleus division following metaphase, in which the chromatids separate and migrate to opposite poles of the spindle. 2) The third phase of mitosis, in which the chromatids ...
